But I kind of like this line. It’s from a new book (released on Tuesday!) that I’m pretty geeked about. The Chicago library has exactly one copy on order, and I’m at the top of the list to get it.
He liked waiting, though. There was a holiness to it. Waiting was admitting that yes, you had done everything in your humble power – ate, dressed, packed, fed, raked, tied, bridled, and saddled – and entrusting the rest to God.

This looks like a great book! I admire your restraint in waiting for the library. I’ve found they move at their own pace there. But I guess, given the quote, that’s fitting 🙂
If I didn’t have several other books in my personal queue, I’d be a lot less patient, Amy. 🙂 I will admit, though, that the “Transit Hold” status on the library’s website is driving me slightly mad.
I know that feeling. I tried to get last month’s book club selection transferred to the Humbolt Park branch. I requested it the day they announced the month’s pick. I waited and I waited. I finally got the notice that it was ready to be picked up on the day of the club meeting. Doh! It was the alt pick so I didn’t feel too bad for not reading it, but now I’ll probably just skip it.
For as large as the CPL system is I had higher hopes for their catalog of ebooks. I’m finding very few of the things I want to read are available through them electronically. I <3 my Kindle.
I’ve had pretty decent luck with the ebooks, actually. Not as much for the newest books I want to read (those tend to be available in dead tree format faster for some reason) but I’ve been able to catch up on some series that I meant to work through a while ago. I do love playing with the Kindle, especially on trips. Much easier than carrying 10 books around. 🙂
I’ve been trying to embrace the library more often lately, especially for books that I THINK I’ll really like but that I might not want taking up space at home. That said, if I wasn’t already in the middle of a great book right now, I suspect I would be much less patient. 🙂
