Stress testing is a thing, and we all do it sometimes. After all, how do you know what’s too much until things become too much? And generally, this process doesn’t do any lasting harm, or at least any major harm. So, we take on too much, find out that it is too much, and then move on, with a valuable lesson learned.
Only, and this is an important bit, take care what lesson you’re learning. Is it, “Wow, that was too much so I ought to be kinder to my future self and avoid doing that again,” or is it, “That didn’t literally kill me, so I’d better sign up for more”?
